Description

Crispy, sweet, and tangy air fryer tanghulu skewers. A fun and easy twist on the classic Chinese candy-coated fruit.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 lb fresh strawberries, washed and dried
  • 8-10 bamboo skewers


Instructions

  1. Thread 2-3 strawberries onto each bamboo skewer.
  2. Combine sugar, water, and corn syrup in a saucepan over medium heat.
  3. Stir until sugar dissolves, then stop stirring and let it boil until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  4. Dip each skewered strawberry into the syrup, coating evenly.
  5. Place coated skewers on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool and harden.
  6. Preheat air fryer to 350°F.
  7. Air fry skewers for 2-3 minutes until the coating is crisp.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Use a candy thermometer for accurate temperature reading.
  • Work quickly when coating the strawberries as the syrup hardens fast.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
