Description
Crispy, sweet, and tangy air fryer tanghulu skewers. A fun and easy twist on the classic Chinese candy-coated fruit.
Ingredients
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1 lb fresh strawberries, washed and dried
- 8-10 bamboo skewers
Instructions
- Thread 2-3 strawberries onto each bamboo skewer.
- Combine sugar, water, and corn syrup in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir until sugar dissolves, then stop stirring and let it boil until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
- Dip each skewered strawberry into the syrup, coating evenly.
- Place coated skewers on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool and harden.
- Preheat air fryer to 350°F.
- Air fry skewers for 2-3 minutes until the coating is crisp.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Use a candy thermometer for accurate temperature reading.
- Work quickly when coating the strawberries as the syrup hardens fast.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
