Description
Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, these air fryer churro donuts are a high-protein twist on a classic treat. Made with simple ingredients, they’re quick to prepare and satisfy your sweet cravings without the guilt.
Ingredients
- 1 cup oat flour (100g)
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (30g)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce (60g)
- 1 large egg
- 2 tbsp almond milk (30ml)
- 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup (15ml)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp coconut oil, melted (15ml)
- 2 tbsp granulated sweetener (for coating)
- 1 tsp cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix oat flour, protein powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Add applesauce, egg, almond milk, honey, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth.
- Grease a donut mold with coconut oil and fill each cavity 3/4 full with batter.
- Preheat air fryer to 350°F (180°C). Place donut mold in the air fryer basket.
- Cook for 8-10 minutes until golden and firm. Let cool slightly.
- Mix sweetener and cinnamon in a shallow bowl. Lightly coat warm donuts with the mixture.
- Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
Notes
- Use a piping bag for neater donut shaping.
- Adjust sweetness by adding more or less sweetener.
- For extra crispiness, spray donuts lightly with oil before air frying.
